Report Maker

SimaPro Report Maker is a new tool,

which allows you to create graphs and

tables in MS Word and MS Excel, and to
keep them updated as you change your

model and data in SimaPro.

Report Maker is an add-on for SimaPro that saves LCA practitioners a lot of time by automatically updating tables and graphs in Word and Excel documents. This is achieved by copying and pasting a link (called “item descriptor”) from SimaPro into Word or Excel. The link contains all the information necessary to redo the calculation with the right amounts, methods and filter options.

When changes are made in the life cycle model in SimaPro, users can simply update the results in their documents by clicking a button in the SimaPro Ribbon bar, in Word or Excel. Within certain limits, the layout of graphs and tables can be edited and the customised layout will be kept when the models and data are updated.

SimaPro versions for which Report Maker is available?

Report Maker is available for all indefinite professional licenses and the indefinite SimaPro PhD.  A valid service contract at the time of purchase is required. Note that for Multi-User versions the number of Report Maker licenses must be equal to the number of SimaPro users. If additional users are purchased, an equal number of Report Maker licenses must be purchased at the same time.

Report Maker will only work with MS Office 2007 and 2010

Trial period

After installing Report Maker you can try the full functionality of Report Maker for 30 days, to keep on using Report Maker after that you can purchase a license.

Teaching License Versions

There are two license versions for teaching SimaPro.  The Classroom multi-user is for teaching SimaPro in a lab environment, while the Faculty license is for students working offsite with SimaPro on their own computers.

If you are using the Classroom version of SimaPro, some suggestions for trouble free work are:

Have separate databases for each group of 5 students. One server is fine, but having separate databases for each group of students stops the databases from crashing when all of the students log in and start working at the same time. A good way to do this is to create five student user profiles within one database, possibly based on student ID numbers, and then to copy the database as many times as is needed (e.g. 8 times for 40 students). You will need to keep track of which students are working on which database.

Use a simple example for students to work with. Some examples of tutorials are listed above.
