Ecological Footprint of City of Melbourne Residents, Shoppers and Businesses

City of Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria, 2013

Life Cycle Strategies were commissioned by the City of Melbourne with ARUP consulting to undertake an Ecological Footprint for City of Melbourne. The ecological footprint was developed using environmentally extended input output LCA talking into account the consumption patterns of residents, workers and visitors to the city. The project provided a roadmap for engaging the community to take personal action on reducing their own footprint, and a strategy for on-going monitoring of reducing the ecological footprint of activities in the city.

Lifecycles acknowledges that we are located on the unceded traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present, and recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and relationship with the land, which continue to be important to the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people living today. Lifecycles commits to respecting cultural heritage, customs, and beliefs of Aboriginal people as we pursue environmental justice. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
