Life cycle assessment of recycling and landfill of inert building materials

This study analysed management of the waste generation from residential building sites in the Perth Metropolitan Area. It focused on the major waste streams created by the building companies, such as heavy, inert materials (concrete, bricks, rubble and sand) and lighter waste materials (wood, metal, plastic, card etc.). The study showed that for low value high volume materials such as sand and rubble transport logistics became a critical element of the LCA.
